With the Valentine’s cards swiftly off the shelves and the Mother’s Day cards stacked to the brim in Clintons it’s now time to turn our attention to this favoured day to celebrate our mums. Whether you are going to shower yours with beautifully bright daffodils or perhaps take her out for a special mother – daughter afternoon treat, Mother’s day is a celebratory one for belonging to the Motherhood around the world.
Being a member of the Motherhood really does resemble a private member’s lounge
perhaps lacking in the Mayfair location and endless cocktails, where only once you’ve received your all inclusive pass do you develop this sixth sense that you know what your child is doing / feeling at any given time. You know when a well timed tissue or wet wipe needs to be thrust under a nose with the potential to blow like Mt. Etna and you develop this protective bubble around your family unit so tight it’s almost impenetrable. Perhaps the biggest member’s benefit to the Motherhood is you’ll be employed for life with the best job in the world… but you’ll never get paid, monetary speaking.
So to celebrate all the current and potential members of this exclusive club I decided to get creative and run a bit of a portrait project in time for Mother’s Day celebrating motherhood. As most family portrait photos are taken as groups, gathered together at special events or planned family photoshoots, I wanted to create something a little different. Something that portrayed all the generations of mothers and potential mothers of the future within one photo but without the normal family group shot.
And here are just some of the celebrated Motherhood members….
Three and more generations of mothers and mothers of the future in a single framed portrait.
If you’re inspired by this project to get all the mumma’s in your gang together for a photoshoot for Mother’s Day or at any time of the year, do get in touch as I’d love to discuss how we can creatively show off your club members!
Or if like me you are a soon to be fully fledged Motherhood member, and want to capture your little one when it arrives, drop me a line to talk about capturing those precious moments that you’ll want to treasure forever.
