Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely family in the grounds of Sopwell House. Normally a location I only attend in the evenings to photograph award events and corporate do’s, it was a delight to see this former Georgian country residence in all it’s finery during daylight hours. It really is a lovely setting for family get togethers and this one was no exception.
The Fletcher family stayed at the country house hotel for a very special 70th birthday celebration weekend. Jammed packed full of surprises the weekend also paved the way for a family photoshoot…. well what better time to have a photoshoot than when all the family is together in a beautiful location?!
I met with the family on a very chilly, but gloriously sunny afternoon at Sopwell House, where we took some very relaxed photographs in the bright, airy reception area, centred around a toasty roaring fire. We then ventured outside to the fabulous gardens to take some more shots of the family.
Outside the Spa area is a brightly coloured bridge over the garden’s water feature, the perfect setting for more intimate photographs. As I took the birthday girl and her husband off for a few photographs on their own it was beautifully evident the love that these two have for each other. This shone through in every press of the shutter.
The family get together and birthday celebration was incredibly special to the whole family for very personal reasons, therefore it was very important to convey this in the photographs too.
Capturing memories made to be treasured forever.
They really made my job very easy, the tenderness that was portrayed with each photograph was pure and genuine. Not a false smile in sight, it wasn’t necessary nor was it needed because their expressions shone through with an amazing strength throughout the portrait session.
Just take a look at some of the beautiful images from the family portrait session below.
